The Aditya Birla Group and Galeries Lafayette have teamed together to launch upscale department stores throughout the nation. Here's all you need to know about the partnership.
Which brands would be included in Galeries Lafayette India?
The Parisian department store brand and the Aditya Birla Group have teamed, and on Thursday, they revealed plans to open locations in Mumbai and Delhi by 2025. These flagship stores would purportedly house more than 200 luxury and designer labels under one roof. Expect to see labels like Ted Baker, Fred Perry, Ralph Lauren, Hackett, American Eagle, Reebok, and Forever 21 make their home in the future department stores since the Indian company is now the nation's largest multi-brand retailer of International global names under the Collective. The group has strategic alliances with renowned Indian fashion houses including House of Masaba, Tarun Tahiliani, Shantanu And Nikhil, and Sabyasachi. It is unclear at this time whether their boutiques would be included in their planned outlets.
Additionally, the forthcoming stores are set to include Aditya Birla-owned Indian brands including Louis Philippe, Van Heusen, Allen Solly, Peter England, and Pantaloons. An Aditya Birla Group representative told Vogue, "We're still in the process of onboarding numerous International companies and will be revealing them after the documents have been signed."
Where will the Mumbai store be situated?
According to a statement made by the Aditya Birla Group, the 90,000 square foot flagship store in Mumbai will be located between two 100-year-old historic structures in the Fort neighbourhood, which is quickly becoming a centre for the city's high-end designer shops. The architectural firm Virgile & Partners, known for their significant work on department shops around the world, is currently designing the project. In 2024, Galeries Lafayette plans to debut its flagship location in Mumbai.
